In Tenevyr, Wards are made from runestone: a material that was made during the First Vaya War.
Travel Wards
There are two types of wards against travel.
Binding Wards
The first binds space to create a solid magical barrier against travel. These can be circumvented by leaping across the barrier with sufficient skill and knowledge of the destination.
Binding space in a way that prevents this would involve creating a Will that space is impenetrable and overriding the Will of others. That means you need to apply an opposing force to the attacking one.
Non-binding Wards
The second type are wards for travel that don’t bind space but compress or stretch it so that the travel becomes inaccurate.
Changing the relationship between space magic means you can just let the opposing force act and then counter when they appear somewhere they didn’t intend
